Beekeeper has Manteca Library abuzz By SAN JOAQUIN BUREAU
MANTECA -- A visit from beekeeper Nadine Olmo is causing a buzz at the Manteca Library.
Olmo will host a free presentation at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, titled "Bountiful Bees," as part of the library's Summer Reading Program, "Discover the Bounty of San Joaquin County."
Children will have the opportunity to learn about bees, see bees inside a glass-sided beehive and find out about products made possible by bees.
Olmo, whose family apiary has more than 1,000 hives, will also demonstrate the protective gear worn by beekeepers.
Those wishing to join the Summer Reading Program can do so whenever the library is open. Participants keep track of the time they read, or are read to, and receive prizes such as Round Table Pizza coupons, Home Town Buffet coupons, bookmarks and small toys.
The library is located at 320 W. Center St., in Manteca. For more information, call (209) 825-2380.
